This type of track is terrific for taking multiple train sets and turning them into a much larger layout. Creating sidings or combining tracks with multiple trains will require switches like the ones I received from the 6-12028 FT Inner Passing Loop Track Pack O, but if you just want to make a really big layout and use multiple conventional transformers (like the ones that come in the starter sets), these pieces will allow you to do that. Just make sure that you separate the middle wire on the underside of the block section, or it will function as a regular piece.
