The expansion set is mid to high quality. Operates well and is packaged in heavy cardboard material so that the boxes can last many years of use.

Santa brought the Polar Express Lionel set for christmas and he also brought this expansion set as well. It works perfectly with the Polar Express O-gauge set.
High quality cars and extra track (fast track is what Lionel calls it and it's so much better than the tracks I had as a boy) and you get the cool self powered rail car too that really really goes FAST!
My 6 1/2 year old boy could not love his trains more.
It's a pleasure to finally pay a lot, but also GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. How many times can you say that about a toy these days?
This is not disposable junk and for that, I'm very, very happy.
